Well, I think it's high time for a new post. Not that anyone reads my blog anymore as I've been extremely unfaithful in my posting, but for all of you who still do, this is for you.

Life is good, things are moving along. Let the Dead is taking a break for a month or two during the C-mas season so you won't be hearing too much from us until January. The upside is that we will be saving up ubber amounts of cash for next year's tours and other musical ventures. I'm sad to announce that our good friend Jason has left the band to pursue his business and possibly school. T

he upside to this though, is that my little brother Jesse has joined Let the Dead. He's an extremely talented guitarist and it's awesome to have him on board. So yeah, thats about it on the musical front.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and there is so much to be thankful for. Like....WHISKEY!! We're going to have our yearly pre-Thanksgiving party tonight including whiskey, laughter, dance, song, and a few bad decisions....YAY!! Then, we cook and eat to our hearts content. I'm very excite! And i feel so bad for all those cultures around the world who are missing out on this joyous occasion...FAIL!!

I just recently added a Peavey 6505+ to my gear family and i'm
very pleased with it. It's got a lot of balls just like a Dual Rec, but
the thing that i notice is that it has a lot more clarity right
off the bat, even without some sort of compressor or sonic
maximizer.

The 6505 is a reissue of the immensely popular 5150 head designed
in conjunction with guitar legend Eddie Vanhalen. It's really a go to
amp for hardcore or Metal. It's a one trick pony that has a precise,
focused low end and a harsh, one of a kind dirty sound.

Don't let the affordability fool you, this amp is used by hundreds of
popular bands around the world such as:

3 Doors Down, Ted Nugent, Atreyu, Steve Morse, In Flames,
Arch Enemy, Visqueen, God Forbid, HIMSA, Darkest Hour,
Sworn Enemy, Unearth, August Burns Red, Trivium, For The Fallen
Dreams.

I think i'll keep this in my rig for a while. Stay posted, more reviews on
the way.

I thought i would do another music post as i haven't been as
faithful to stay true to the original theme of this blog. Forgive
me!

"For Today" is a Christian Metal/Hardcore band from Sioux
City, Iowa. Their sound is a blend of good solid 2 steps, harsh
breakdowns, and well written shredding guitar parts.
I just got my hands on their newest Album "Portraits" and
i'm highly impressed by their use pop sense, all the while staying
ever true to Metal.

The most impressive thing about this band is their powerful
lyrics addressing the last days, the fall of man, Redemption
through Jesus Christ and so on.
My favorite song is one called "Joel (the watchman)" which is
themed around the coming judgment of America and the final call
to return to the light. Some of the lyrics are:

"America, you will be judged, but His people will be restored.
Fall to your knees but there is life at at the throne of God You
will be judged. Seek your mercy now, while it may still be found."

Good Stuff! If you like 2 stepin', if you like brutal breakdowns,
if you like fast shredding, if you don't like a single clean vocal, then
this is the band for you.....enjoy!

A Breakdown:

Used in various genres of heavy metal, especially in metalcore, a breakdown consists of slowing a song down to give the guitars room to play a set of rhythmically oriented riffs. Well, I'm still alive and back at home in Texas. I'm pretty happy due to the fact that I won't be going back to the hell hole that is commonly known as "Memphis". God in his wisdom has seen fit to rescue me.....YAY!

The music is drawing ever near so please keep us in your prayers as we continue to write and compose. We should be ready to conquer the world by April, so get ready!

Our home is doing very well. It's been hard to get things organized and running well, but now that the main work push is nearing it's end and we have the bulk of our team in Texas, things are coming together. The Lord has been doing some amazing miracles financially and otherwise, and I can't wait to see what else he has up his sleeve.

...HURTS!!! But it was worth it. Dan and I went to see Mychildren Mybride, The Human Abstract, Protest the hero, and AS I LAY DYING the other night and our lives were changed forever. We set up a tripod and a video camera so we got some amazing shots. I'm going to post them right here on my blog so you too can experience what we did.

As i lay dying was so good, tight as tiger. I stood directly in front of Phil (guitarist) for the first two songs, "nothing left" and "An ocean Between us", but as soon as they started playing "Forever" i tore my way though to the circle pit. My neck hurt so bad already from watching Mychildren Mybride that i couldn't go on much longer, so i finished the show sitting down in a spot where i could hear both guitars do harmonies and stuff (except for when they played "darkest nights", i went up to the front for that one).

"In this Moment"! That's the name of a band I've been listening to recently. Though i tend to be somewhat skeptical when it comes to metal bands with a female at the helm, this one sure did catch my attention. In their new album "The Dream" they blend melodic metalcore with 80's new wave punk all the while adding in a twist of goth, which makes for a tasty tasty treat.

This band is much like the goth/melodic bands of Europe such as "Nightwish"and "Within Temptation" but with good compositions, a good vocalist, and catchy hooks. Yes folks, yet again American music has schooled the rest of the world (no offense intended), and you would do well to go check them out on myspace or your local music store.

Stay tuned for my thoughts on the Indie Rap group called "Flobots"....

Well, everyone makes mistakes right? Right! And we all know that when we make those mistakes, the Lord is right there to forgive us. That’s a pretty comforting thought if you ask me. But no matter how sorry we are, sometimes it just doesn’t fix it. If you have hurt someone, or betrayed someone’s trust it’s almost impossible to regain that trust or make things right. It’s sad, but I believe that the Lord allows it.

There truly is no condemnation under Christ. There is no reason to mull over the mistakes that we’ve made, we need to accept and learn from them, but I do believe that the Lord allows us to experience the pain of not being forgiven to really drive the point home. Maybe we have been making the same mistake over and over and this are in need of something more drastic to get us to finally wake up.

Recently I did something that hurt two very good friends of mine. It was a moment of weakness but the effects of that single moment will last a long time. In my case, I am determined to not let it go to waste. I want to learn what I can and allow the experience to keep me desperate and changing. That’s really all the Lord expects from us, the rest is in his hands.

To sum it up; sorry doesn’t always fix it, but we can do our part by learning from our mistakes and truly changing from the inside out. If we do our part, the Lord will do his. Ok that’s all I have to say about that. It’s short, but to the point. Any thoughts?

Hey everyone!
Sorry for not updating a little sooner, things have been uber busy since I've been out in Baja.

Well, the good news is that all the bones in my foot are intact, meaning the problem is not nearly as bad as i had anticipated. The Bad news is that i will need minor surgery to correct the "bone spurs" on my heel. In a nut shell, the bone spurs are blocking the tendon that travels around my heel making it very painful to walk as the bone rubs up against the tendon when ever my foot goes up or down.
I'll need to have those lumps cut off in order to end the pain and bring peace to my feet once again.
Keep me in your prayers, i miss all my peeps in TX.

Man, this was a good show. "Oh, Sleeper" is a Christian hardcore band from Dallas, Tx with a mean sound. We (Andrew, Jono, Marky) went to see them last night and it was pretty darn cool. They are the head lining band for the tour but they needed to play earlier due to the fact that they had to drive back to Dallas the same night. So to save time they used one of the other Band's gear and played right there on the same level as the crowd. Needless to say it kicked ass.

How's everyone doing today? Good? Great! Lets get started....

This is a very important post about a good friend of mine. You may know him as Jason, Jason Paone, or Jason Clement Paone, but I know him by his real name, Jason “Albatross”. This guy has many talents, he’s a skilled handyman, a great husband, and an awesome Dad, but this post is about the one thing that he is most skilled at but gets the least recognition for and that is Music!! I’ll take you back to the beginning….. I first met Jason over a year ago at Wordstock ‘07 where we happened to be placed in the same room. Of course I didn’t really get much time to hang out with him because I was too busy romancing his sister, but a couple months later I came out to California to help fix up the Activated house with him. We became fast friends and I was able to see just how gifted this guy was in not only guitar work, but also the ins and outs of music theory. He was pretty steeped in “nu metal” so I had to school him in the arts of both Metalcore and guitar amp Etiquette. Then, like a butterfly coming out of its cocoon, he was transformed into a formidable Metal warrior. We ended up in the same home where we have been working together musically for the past year, but that’s only the beginning. We are now starting a band with Andrew, Dan, and Tim in Texas where we are going to tear the Enemy a new one through music. That is our history in a nut shell….. In all I would say that I have met my match in many ways when it comes to guitar playing, we do pretty well together. I’m the sort of guitarist that is not so technical. I rely more on the feel or the inspiration. My strong points are precision and timing I think. But I’m also really good at pretending like I know what I’m talking about just enough to not look like a complete musical idiot.

Jason has a great working knowledge of music theory which I think gives him the edge over most guitarist out there. He also has a great gift for composing and writing lyrics. Together I think we make a great team. I’m pretty excited about working with him, it’s going to be a lot of fun.

By posting this on my blog I don’t people the think that I don’t love my other band mates or friends, I’ll probably post about them at some point, but I felt that the world needed to hear about “the Albatross” and I wanted to be the one to tell them. Jason is a good guy with a big heart and he really is a strong disciple who is going to go far for the Lord.

I feel the need to mention that he has one of the best looking families I’ve ever seen.

His wife Clara has redefined the meaning of the word gorgeous and his daughter Julie is smart, beautiful, and has an undying love for her uncle Marky

….a recipe for success.

I’m pretty happy about starting a new home and work with the Albatross family and I can only hope we will stay together for a long time. Stay tuned everyone, there is so much more to come.

Man, i just heard "Arise and conquer" from the Christian Metal band "War of Ages" and If you enjoy "breakdowns", these boys can lay it down. I would say their style is a mix between the brutal hardcore riffs of "living sacrifice" and the high end speed lead guitar work of "Dragon Force". You can check out their Myspace right here.

So back in April of 2007 there was a band that was entering the scene. That band was called "Ten Bullet Plan". But in order for you to understand, we will need to go all the way back to July of 2005 when the band was conceived. It was around the time of those famous hurricanes that swept the nation that this band took it's form. Front man and guitarist was Marky, on bass we had Jesse Osborn, and on drums we had good old Andrew Forsberg.
The sound was "Nu Metalish" with a dash of hardcore, but it was pretty steeped in the sound of the
"linkin park" era. None of us liked the 3 piece feel and we all loved the way Tony sounded on vox so we invited him to join up and the band was formed. We practiced a lot, played a few shows, we even released a song "the flood"but never did much. Soon after we all parted ways and the Band seemed to be lost forever.

In 2006 we decided to play one of ur songs on stage at Wordstock 3 for fun and it seemed to come off pretty well, so we kept that in the back of our minds. One year later in April of 2007 we all felt that it was time to awaken the sleeping giant and bring our songs to the masses.
At that point we had a new line up, Andrew on screaming vox, Tony and I on Clean vox, Jess and I on dualing guitars, and Tim on drums. The sound went from whimpy/whiney "linkin park" to ball busting Texas Metal with screaming, solos, sqeals, dive bombs, break downs, and all that buttery goodness. We had about 5 songs down and were ready to hit WordStock with it. But, the Lord's ways are not our ways. We soon found out that the style was a bit too heavy for WS, so we had to once again shelf TBP. It was sad, but we all knew that the Lord had a plan.

By the end of 2007 things had changed so drastically that we thought the music would be gone forever. I moved from the Area, and Justin decided to move on to China. But in March 2008 we decided to cut a song with the help of Peter who had recently moved to Texas. It actually turned out pretty good and we all feel that it's only the beginning. We'll be releasing the song on the glitch asap and you can expect plenty more where that came from. If all goes well, we'll be able to take this band all the way. Keep it in your prayers.

Just thought i'd let you all know that Jason, Dan, and I have begun writing an album. We haven't yet thought of a band Name yet but if you have any ideas, let me know. Here's what i came up with so far:

-Kings and protectors
- within three months
- preferably in person
-50 people
- the eventual goal
- former police chief
- Abraham's girlfriend
- the meeting
-sack the fort
-shake the dream
-stab the castle
-undead blackness
-suffer the children
- the "bait"
-pot luck dinner

In case you are wondering, I came up with that list during one of my home's offensive meetings. I may have been slightly influenced by what i was hearing.
Anyway, should be ready to record soon. I'll keep you posted.
